About Me

I am a Nebraska girl through and through: I was born and raised right here in Lincoln; all of my immediate family members have been involved in the university, either as a student or employee; and I've been attending Husker football games for as long as I can remember. So I can safely say that no matter where I end up after graduation or what I'm doing, I will be in front of the TV every Saturday of college football season.

Although school and work take up much of my time, I enjoy my down time. I love spending time with my friends and family, watching movies, riding my bright pink Schwinn bike and exploring the lesser-known areas of Lincoln.
I am a 22-year-old recent graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in news-editorial journalism.

Ultimately, I would love to find a resolve between the two loves of my life -- journalism and politics. One of my first classes in college was an honors class that focused on the First Amendment, and the interest that course sparked in me hasn't died. I would love to work advocating for First Amendment rights, particularly free speech and media rights. I'm fascinated with the idea that bad speech or ideas can be countered with more, better speech and ideas.

Another aspect of journalism I'm fascinated with is copy editing. Copy editing was something I stumbled upon by chance, but it ended up being my favorite position at the newspaper. I like the idea of taking a story and being able to make it better. I know the grammatical errors, awkward phrasings and factual flubs are hiding somewhere in each story, and it's my job to accept the challenge by finding and improving them.
